Blake Lively‘s teasing of husband Ryan Reynolds is a fantastic reminder that celebrities are just like us!
On October 17, Reynolds announced in a post to Instagram how he will be stepping away from acting for a bit. He shared the news in light of his final day of filming the upcoming Christmas musical movie, Spirited, alongside Will Farrell and Octavia Spencer.
“That’s a wrap for me on Spirited. Not sure I’d have been ready to say yes to a film this challenging even three years ago,” he wrote in a slew of behind-the-scenes photos from the set.
“Singing, dancing, and playing in the sandbox with Will Ferrell made a whole lotta dreams come true. And this is my second film with the great @octaviaspencer… Perfect time for a little sabbatical from movie making. I’m gonna miss every second [of] working with this obscenely gifted group of creators and artists. These days, kindness matters as much as talent. I’ve been lucky to work with folks who are flush with both.”
To which is darling wife responded (jokingly, we assume) the following: “Michael Caine did it first,” she wrote, referencing the recent news how the actor’s most recent role would be his last.
But jokes aside, this power duo is a match in more ways than one. While speaking in a SiriusXM Town Hall with Jess Cagle to promote his new film, Free Guy, Reynolds revealed how Lively was a major reason for his success in quite a few of his on-screen projects — including Deadpool.
“[Blake] is a really talented, multihyphenate kind of person in this, you know, weird burgoo of an entertainment industry that we work,” Reynolds said.
“She’s helped me so much in Deadpool, all kinds of movies that have been big successes,” he added. “She’s always got a lot of bricks in that wall.”
The subject came up when Reynolds was asked by fan what the best part of being married to Lively, 33, was.
“I write on a lot of my movies. It’s been a survival mechanism for me for a long time. Sometimes I’m credited, sometimes I’m not,” Reynolds explained “There’s a lot of A++ writing that I’ve done that was actually Blake; Blake would jump in, grab the keyboard and [say] ‘What about this?’ And I’d be like, ‘That’s incredible,’ ” he said.
