Britney Spears‘ fiancé Sam Asghari wants to be surprised when it comes to their baby’s gender.
The 28-year-old actor said he’s not dying to know the sex of his baby on the way with Spears, during an appearance on Access Hollywood Wednesday,
The host, Mario Lopez, asked if he and Spears planned to find out the baby’s sex ahead of time, Asghari answered, “That’s up to [Britney], but I don’t want to. It’s something that I want to wait for.”
“If it’s a daughter, it’s going to be the most spoiled princess ever. If it’s a son, it’s gonna be the toughest son. I’m gonna be tough on the kid,” he said.
He added that he “absolutely” wants to be “hands-on as much as possible.”
“This is my baby, my first baby,” he continued.
Asghari also recently spoke on how Britney’s third pregnancy should have happened a lot sooner.
“Yeah, I mean, this should have happened three years ago, to be honest with you,” the actor told BBC Persian in an interview conducted before the singer revealed her pregnancy earlier this week.
“When you’re in a relationship with someone that you’re truly in love with, you want to recreate,” Asghari continued. “And this is something that I want to do.”
This past Monday, Britney, 40, surprised the world by announcing on Instagram, “So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby.”
Asghari, 28, later confirmed the good news in his own post to Instagram.
“Marriage and kids are a natural part of a strong relationship filled with love and respect,” he captioned an image of a lion, lioness and their cub.
“Fatherhood is something i have always looked forward to and i don’t take lightly. It is the most important job i will ever do.”
The soon-to-be parents met in 2016 when Asghari played Spears’ love interest in her “Slumber Party” music video. Britney went on to accept a proposal from the personal trainer-turned-model in September 2021 after nearly five years together.
Asghari did not leave Spears’ side as she pursued an end to her nearly 14-year conservatorship, which was finally terminated in November 2021.
“I can only speak on my reaction and it was phenomenal to see how everybody was so supportive and the whole world was engaged in it in a sense,” he told BBC Persian of the worldwide support Spears received throughout her legal battle.
