Serena Williams’ Daughter, Olympia, Had the Most Adorable Reaction to Finding Out She’s Going to Be a Big Sister

When Serena Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, stepped out on the red carpet for the 2023 Met Gala, they had an announcement to share with everyone – they’re pregnant! They confirmed the news by telling reporters there were ‘three of us’ on the red carpet – which can only mean one thing!

Mamas Uncut previously reported that their 5-year-old daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., didn’t know about the pregnancy until the day of the Gala. At the time, Serena posted a snippet of a YouTube video explaining why she waited to tell her daughter – and it was because Olympia can’t keep a secret.

While her fans have had several weeks to let the news settle in, the one thing they’ve been patiently waiting for is the video of her daughter’s reaction to the news. On Tuesday (May 23), Serena finally posted the full-length video of Olympia’s reaction and it didn’t disappoint – trust us, it’s a must-watch!

“Remember how you’ve been praying for a little sister or brother?” she asked Olympia, who was sitting on the couch in-between her mother and father. “We went to the doctor, and it turns out I’m not getting fat but I have a baby in my belly,” she continued – referencing a time when Olympia pointed out her weight gain.

“Are you kidding me?” Olympia asked, with her father pointing out that she’s going to be a big sister. “Oh my god! I’m so excited!” she said, giving her mother a hug. Serena asked if she wanted to see her belly and was about to show her, but Olympia started running around the house, screaming out of excitement.

It’s an exciting moment for Serena and Alexis, both of whom are ready to grow their family. They initially met in May 2015, got engaged in December 2016 (at the same hotel they met in), and got married in November 2017 – just two months after giving birth to Olympia. They’ve come a long way since then.

Now, the couple are ready to welcome another child. Not much is known about the incoming baby – no gender yet, no name ideas, and no due date – but many are assuming the baby will be here this fall or early winter. Either way, we’re excited for Serena and Alexis, who will now officially be a family four.

Serena Williams Stays True to Her Promise

When Serena Williams retired from her professional tennis career, she did so with the intent on shifting her focus to growing her family – something her and her husband have talked a lot about over the past few years. She finally pulled the plug in August 2022, officially announcing her retirement from tennis.

“In the last year, Alexis and I have been trying to have another child, and we recently got some information from my doctor that put my mind at ease and made me feel that whenever we’re ready, we can add to our family,” she wrote in an emotional letter published by Vogue in August 2022.

Serena has stayed true to that promise and is now pregnant again – roughly nine months after her retirement. While she no longer needs to prepare herself for tennis tournaments, she’ll be preparing herself for something much more rewarding, exciting, and joyous – another child in the house!
