Shannon Beador – who rose to fame on the Real Housewives of Orange County – got herself into a bit of trouble over the weekend. The 59-year-old reality television star was arrested and charged with two misdemeanor offenses – one for DUI alcohol and another for hit-and-run – in Newport Beach, California.
The incident happened at around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday (September 17), according to the Newport Beach Police Department. After a night of drinking, she drove her car onto someone’s property and clipped a house before driving off. She then parked her vehicle in the middle of the street and got out with her dog.
She then tried to walk it off like nothing happened, but she wasn’t fooling anyone. The police were called and she was arrested upon their arrival – they also seized her vehicle as part of the investigation. She was released without bond after being cited for the two misdemeanors – luckily, no one was injured.
“I spent quite a bit of time with Shannon yesterday. She is extremely apologetic and remorseful. We will be awaiting the official information on this case as it becomes available, and Shannon is prepared to accept full responsibility for her actions,” Shannon’s lawyer, Michael Fell, said of the incident on Monday.
Luckily for Shannon Beador, the incident didn’t happen while she was filming for Real Housewives of Orange County. The show is on the back end of releasing Season 17 – Episode 20 will be released on Wednesday (September 20). Filming for the season took place between May and November of last year.
The DUI and hit-and-run add to what has been quite a tumultuous year for Beador. In November 2022 – not long after she finished filming Season 17 of RHOC – she revealed that her boyfriend of three years, John Janssen, broke up with her out of nowhere. The ‘devastating’ split caught her by complete surprise.
“We were in a great place—but seven days later, when the cameras were down, it was a completely different story,” she said in an interview with PEOPLE several months after the breakup. “He told me he was done with the relationship. And to hear what he said to me then was absolutely devastating.”

Shannon Beador was heartbroken when her boyfriend broke up with her – primarily because she thought she had found the man that she would spend the rest of her life with. Unfortunately for her, John Janssen didn’t feel the same – somewhere along the way, his feelings and outlook on the relationship changed.
“I have loved her more deeply than any woman in my life,” Janssen said to PEOPLE earlier this year. “We have a connection that’s unlike anything I’ve ever had. And I know that for as long as I live, I’ll never meet anyone like her again. But that doesn’t mean we’re right for each other for the rest of our lives,” he added.
While Beador has made it clear that the exes will never get back together, she said she’s happy to be on speaking terms (and friendly terms) with Janssen. Of course, that might change once they start dating people again. “If either of us get in a relationship we probably won’t be close anymore,” she said in July.

It’s unclear if Shannon Beador is dating anyone as of September, but she hasn’t talked or posted about it – if she is, it’s not serious yet. It’s also possible she’s focused on spending time with family – she shares three daughters (22-year-old Sophie and 18-year-old twins Adeline and Stella) with David Beador.
