Simone Biles is having quite an iconic 2023. The 26-year-old artistic gymnast started the year off right by getting hitched to NFL player Jonathan Owens on April 22. Two months later, it was revealed that Biles would be making her official return to gymnastics in August after a two-year hiatus that felt like a decade.
She made that return on August 5 at the 2023 U.S. Classic in Chicago, IL and ended up winning the all-around, balance beam, and floor titles, while also finishing with the highest score on vault. Not only that, but she earned a spot at the 2023 U.S. National Championships in San Jose, CA three weeks later.
Biles won her eighth national title and placed first on the balance beam and the floor exercise, while also placing third on the uneven bars. That performance prepared her for the 2023 World Championships – where she won her sixth world all-around title in her official return to international competition since 2021.

Now, Simone Biles has her eyes on the next goal – the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The mission is no different than in previous Games – compete at a high level and win a gold medal – but she brings with her a brand new outlook, perspective, point of view, and mindset into 2024 as she continues to evolve.
“Gymnastics is just something I get to come in and have the privilege of doing,” Biles said in a recent interview with Hoda Kotb. “I don’t feel like it’s the end all be all anymore, as before I kind of felt like that. I get to go home to my husband, to my dogs, to my house and all of the things. So it feels really good.”
She goes on to explain what’s different this time around – adding that she’s being much more ‘intentional’ about her therapy and ‘making sure everything is aligned.’ She wants to set herself up for success when in the gym, but doesn’t want it to take away from her being a good wife, good daughter, and good friend.
“I think I have to take care of myself a little bit more and listen to my body and making sure that I’m making time for the important things in my life, rather than before, it was just ‘go, go, go,’ and then making time after,” she continued – adding that she has ‘to be a little bit more cautious about how we do things.’
Simone Biles Shares Update on House She’s Building With Husband
To make her 2023 that much more special, Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, have been enjoying the process of building their very own forever home. They first announced their plans in September, when she posted a series of photos of her and her hubby at the obvious construction site.
On Monday (Oct. 16), Biles took to her Instagram Story to share a series of photos of how her new home is coming along. The photos gave fans a look at the front exterior of the home and the view out the back of the home – which she described as her ‘favorite view.’ Their house appears to sit in front of a lake.
She also shared a photo of one of the hallways inside her new home – which she apparently has mixed feelings about. “Can’t decide if this is the hallway of my dreams or the ones that are in my nightmares lmao,” she wrote in a text overlay. I’m sure we all have that feature about our home that makes us cringe.
