If you’re a fan of Southern Charm, you know the dramatic roller coaster that is Kathryn Dennis and Thomas Ravenel’s relationship. If you don’t watch the show, here’s a quick refresher: Kathryn and Thomas began dating about five years ago and have two children together: Kensie, 5, and Saint, 3. The couple met when Kathryn was 21 and Thomas was 51. They split in 2016.
Their tumultuous relationship and custody battle was chronicled on Southern Charm and included many highs and lows, including drug and cheating allegations.
In 2016, Kathryn entered rehab and lost custody of her two children. She has since gotten clean and regained 50/50 custody.
Ravenel was fired from the show after multiple allegations of rape and sexual assault were made public. Ravenel has denied all allegations. While he no longer appears on Southern Charm, Kathryn shares her concerns this season that if Thomas goes to jail she will be left as a single mom.
In a recent Southern Charm episode, Kathryn shared her fears ahead of Thomas’ preliminary hearing for his assault charges. “All this sh*t with Thomas, it’s just too overwhelming,” she confided to Craig Conover. “The court date is getting sooner and it’s just hitting me.” Kathryn was in tears saying that she did not know how she would explain how their father was arrested, and potentially jailed, because of sexual assault.
Following Ravenel’s arrest, Kathryn filed to obtain primary custody of Kensie and Saint. Last Tuesday, Kathryn and Dennis were back in court. Ravenel’s lawyer has requested to keep court records private, though the request was denied by the judge.
Throughout this stressful time, Kathryn has also been focused on staying sober. She shared with Entertainment Tonight, “I spend a lot of time at home, and I try to make my home feel like my sanctuary. I am really so numb to all the craziness outside of me, that I live in the perfect little bubble.”
