Just before murdering his wife and stepdaughter, 45-year-old James Olivares posted to Facebook “I’m sorry.”
Police go on to reveal that Olivares of Irving, Texas, fired multiple shots into his wife, Brandy Evett Olivares, 45, and his stepdaughter, Sicilia Italease Ire Williams, 18, before taking his own life on October 20.
According to a press release from the Irving Police Department’s Facebook page, a female contacted dispatch and authorities rushed to a home on the 400 block of Renaissance Lane.
The female caller was one of the victims and Irving Police Officer Robert Reeves revealed she seemed to be pretending to be on the phone with her brother while on the line.
“The person was stressed,” Reeves shared.

“Was talking in a very low volume. Was trying to talk in a code to the dispatcher, and they weren’t necessarily picking up on that conversation that was being said. They could understand they said something about a brother and they were calling 911. So, they just went ahead and did their task of trying to get someone out there very quickly.”
Olivares was inside the home and alive when police got there. When the police knocked on the door, the stepdad demanded to speak with a negotiator.
“The male then discharged at least one round from a handgun,” the police press release stated. Police quickly forced their way into the home, discovering Brandy and her daughter “deceased from gunshot wounds.”
“James Benjamin Olivares 45 years of age was also found inside deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” the press release continued.
Authorities also discovered the family’s two family dogs shot to death.
Both James and Brandy married in 2010, later moving to Irving in 2018. James was an Army veteran, but it was noted if he suffered from any mental health issues.
