Cory Wharton is sharing one of the most intimate and special moments of his life: the birth of his baby girl, Mila Mae Wharton. The Teen Mom OG star and his girlfriend, Taylor Selfridge are giving fans an inside look at what it’s like to bring a human into the world during the coronavirus pandemic.
The happy parents self-shot Teen Mom OG At Home: Cory & Taylor’s Baby Special, a reality TV special that documents the birth of the couple’s first child. We knew about Mila’s arrival, but we had no idea her parents spent weeks recording the events leading up to it!
Wharton’s new birth special was created with entirely self-recorded footage.
The global pandemic presents expecting parents with a variety of issues and stresses that they’d never expect, compounding the already stressful time. The couple, who lives in California, must adhere to strict shelter-in-place orders while trying to figure out their labor plans.
Selfridge has to adapt to a new reality and face the potential of giving birth alone, without Wharton or her family. In a sneak peek from the special, Selfridge is moved to tears at the prospect of being scared and alone in the delivery room.
“What are you scared of?” Wharton asks.
“That they won’t let you come in,” Selfridge says in tears.
Wharton and Selfridge welcomed their first child together in April. Selfridge spent 22 hours in labor with her daughter before Mila Mae Wharton was born at 9:17 p.m. on April 22, weighing 9 lbs., 5 oz.
Wharton shared an image of his newborn on April 28 with the message:
“I have to say after watching [Taylor Selfridge] go through what she has been through just makes me realize how strong she is and how strong women really are! After a 22 hour labor Mila Mae Wharton was born ❤️ I’m now surrounded by all QUEENS???? I’m so blessed to be in this position and I’m so thankful that, in a time like this I was allowed in the room and I got to cut the umbilical cord.”
This is Wharton’s second child, but his first with Selfridge. The proud father is also a father to a 3-year-old little girl named Ryder, whom he shares with his fellow Teen Mom OG star, Cheyenne Floyd.
According to People, this is Selfridge’s first child. What an experience it must have been for this first-time mom who is only 25.
