When it comes to his family, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson loves to spoil them. From buying his parents’ cars to now this massive surprise, it’s no surprise The Rock uses his immense wealth for good.
In a recent Instagram video, you see The Rock’s mother walking into the home he purchased for her and the modifications he made to it. In the caption of the video, the actor called the specific room he showed off in the video his mom’s very own “Smackdown Room.”
“When I was a little boy, I hated when my mom would cry ~ these days, I’ll happily take her tears of joy,” the actor wrote on Instagram. “I surprised my mom and bought her a new home. Took me and my design team 8 weeks to get it ready, where she could walk thru her front door for the very first time and everything she saw was brand new and a total surprise.”
While this isn’t the first home The Rock has purchased for his mom, it will be the last. “This one is special as she’s told me over and over these past few years, ‘After a lifetime of traveling, I want this home to be my last. That’s my dream.’”
In the video, it was clear mama Johnson was speechless over the surprise. As she continued to look around, she became more and more shocked by her new and improved “Showdown Room.”
Eventually, his mom was overcome with emotions. “Oh my God, this is beautiful. You just built a whole new room,” she said in the video as The Rock giggled in the background before telling his mom, “welcome home.”

As The Rock explained, in all of the homes his mom has ever lived in she has always kept a “Smackdown Room.” It is in this room that “she keeps the coolest Rock/DJ memorabilia.”
The issue had become, however, that the rooms had become “insanely crowded,” The Rock admitted. So, the actor surprised his mom with a solution to her problem.
“For her new home, I had these cool built-ins made and just added only a few memorabilia items, posters, University of Miami game balls, movie awards, championship titles, etc. [I] figured she can add whatever she wants from here.”
As The Rock continued, while this room is his mom’s favorite, it is his least favorite. “The last thing I want to do is stand in a DJ Shrine while people look around as my mom takes them thru at all the stuff I’ve done. No thanks,” he wrote.

“But, truth is, when I’m BY MYSELF, these Smackdown rooms she creates have such positive energy and beautiful mana. Always a good reminder for me to never forget where I came from and always be grateful for the grind. Welcome home, mom.”
