The Rock Washes Daughters Hands While Lovingly Singing Song from Moana

Get ready for The Rock to melt your cold, cold heart. In a recent video shared on his Instagram, Dwayne Johnson has a creative way to keep his 1-year-old daughter entertained while he washes her hands.

Tiana “Tia” Johnson sits on the bathroom counter while The Rock, who voiced Maui in Disney’s Moana, likes to perform the rap portion of the song “You’re Welcome” from the film. The song his perfectly timed to wash hands thoroughly and keep his little one entertained.

The Rock’s daughter says ‘Sing a song!’ to dad before the handwashing begins.

In the adorable video, Tiana tells her dad to “Sing a song!” before he can even get started. She’s clearly done this routine already and wants The Rock to deliver the tunes!

The Rock shared the video with the caption, “Our sheltering at home, pre daddy’s shower ritual. Before my showers now, Baby Tia (mama mia) demands I sing the rap portion of my song ‘You’re Welcome’ from MOANA, while I wash her hands.”

His post continued, “We realized a few weeks ago that the rap portion of the song is perfect timing when getting your little ones to have fun washing their hands. Stay healthy and safe, my friends.”

“And gotta love how at the start of this vid, baby Tia is like, ‘just shut your mouth and sing daddy.'”

In the video, The Rock interacts with Tia and gives her space to sing the lyrics she remembers from the sing. Additionally, Johnson adlibs and sings, “The coronavirus has got to go!”

The Rock turns asks his daughter, “Can you tell everyone to stay healthy?”

“Stay healthy!” Tiana replies.

“And, stay safe,” he prompts.

“Stay safe,” she says.

The video ends with Johnson telling his daughter that she is “perfect” and he gives her a peck on the cheek.

The video comes on the heels of other parents coming up with creative ways to get their kids to enjoy washing their hands.

Mother of two, Kristen Bell shared a viral video last month that illustrates the importance of washing hands to kids. The Frozen star shared the video that was originally created by a preschool teacher named Amanda Lorenzo, who used pepper, water, and soap to teach her students about the importance of washing their hands properly.

She captioned the video, “Such an amazing way to teach kids (and the rest of us adults) the importance of washing our hands.”

The Rock has used the song from Moana before and it seems like it’s his go-to for spreading some good.

In November last year, Johnson filmed a video of him singing “You’re Welcome” for a 3-year-old boy named Hyrum Harris who was battling cancer.

In addition to the video, The Rock also shared the message, “Hyrum, I know I’m a complete stranger to you – who sounds a lot like your hero, MAUI (only with a very large head), but myself along with millions of other strangers who will watch this video are sending you so much love, strength and mana your way.”

The Rock is our rock.

At this moment, many of us are feeling separated from the rest of the world. Many of us are adjusting to the new demands of social distancing and aggressive handwashing. Fortunately, The Rock has given us some inspiration for how we might make the experience more enjoyable for children. Singing a song or making the handwashing a sort of game will keep kids engaged.

The CDC outlines five steps to wash your hands properly: “Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap. Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails. Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds.”

With a little help from The Rock, you and your kids can scrub in style. “You’re Welcome.”
