However, as of right now, her cause of death has been labeled as “natural causes.” The Daily Mail reports that Turner was at her home in Switzerland when she passed away.

She was 83 years old. As Mamas Uncut previously reported, her beloved son, Ronnie Turner, had also recently passed away in December 2022 following a brief illness. He was just 62 years old.

Ronnie was an accomplished musician like both of his parents and his wife. Tina took to Instagram shortly after her son’s passing to issue a statement.

“Ronnie, you left the world far too early. In sorrow I close my eyes and think of you, my beloved son,” she wrote.

As several reports revealed, over the last couple of years the singer had been open about some of her health battles including battling cancer in 2016 and having a kidney transplant a year later in 2017.

Just in March, Turner opened up about her transplant on Instagram.

“Today is International World Kidney Day. Why is it important? Because kidneys fail without pain. And that’s why I’m telling you today: Show your kidneys love! They deserve it. My kidneys are victims of my not realizing that my high blood pressure should have been treated with conventional medicine. I have put myself in great danger by refusing to face the reality that I need daily, lifelong therapy with medication. For far too long I believed that my body was an untouchable and indestructible bastion.

I am therefore delighted to be able to support a new international campaign for kidney health. You can read the whole story of my disease on the website www.showyourkidneyslove.com. Here you can find out how your kidneys work, what the risk factors are, and how you can keep these important organs healthy. Let’s show our kidneys some love!”

Her team confirmed the news of her passing on Instagram. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”

Prior to embodying her stage name, Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939. She began singing in her town’s church choir and was open about her job picking cotton while growing up in Nutbush, Tennessee.

Our thoughts and prayer are with the Turner family as they continue to mourn during this difficult time.
