Todd and Julie Chrisley Reveal When They Are to Report to Federal Prisons on After Requests for Bail, Extended Surrender Date Denied

The past two months have been life-changing for Todd and Julie Chrisley, but not in the way they would’ve hoped for. The couple was sentenced to a combined 19 years in federal prison in November 2022 after being convicted of bank fraud, tax fraud, and several other charges in a multi-million dollar fraud trial.

On Tuesday, Todd and Julie Chrisley requested the courts to approve a motion for bail pending appeal – which would grant the couple bail while they await the appeal process to finish. They also requested the surrender date, which was originally scheduled for January 17th, be extended three weeks (21 days).

According to court records, both of those requests have been denied – meaning the couple won’t be approved bail pending appeal and won’t have their surrender date extended. Instead, they’ll be expected to report to their respective federal prisons on January 17th, at which point they’ll begin their sentences.

Todd Chrisley, who was convicted of bank fraud, tax fraud, conspiracy to commit tax fraud, and conspiracy to commit bank fraud, was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison and 3 years of supervised release. He’ll spend the next 12 years at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Escambia County, Florida.

As for Julie Chrisley, she was convicted of wire fraud – on top of everything her husband was convicted of – and was sentenced to 7 years in federal prison and 3 years of supervised release. She’ll be spending the next 7 years of her life at Federal Correctional Institution and Federal Prison Camp Marianna.

The couple has pleaded not guilty and is not giving up on the appeal process. “Their trial was marred by serious and repeated errors, including the government lying to jurors about what taxes the couple paid. Based on these issues, we are optimistic about the road ahead,” said attorney Alex Little in November.

In the weeks following their sentencing, Todd and Julie Chrisley saw their children come together in support of their parents. Their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, has taken custody of her younger brother and sister and has been extremely vocal about her support on her popular Unlocked podcast.

Todd and Julie Chrisley Will Be With Other Non-Violent Criminals

According to multiple sources and experts, the federal prisons Todd and Julie Chrisley are being sent to ‘no country club,’ but they’re also being described as having a ‘relaxed atmosphere’ with other non-violent criminals. One veteran defense attorney, Paul Cambria, says it’s the best place for them.

“They’re almost like a college dormitory situation. There’s usually no fences or barbed wire, or things like that. There’s obviously monitors and cameras and so on, but it is a fairly relaxed atmosphere,” Cambria explained, adding that they’ll be with other non-violent criminals and won’t be put in any sort of danger.

“The camps are basically for white collar, non-violent — a lot of dollars-and-cents kind of crimes, things where violence is not involved.” The population typically consists of “business people, professionals, lawyers, doctors, dentists, and accountants,” he continued. They have just one week before reporting.
