Tragedy Strikes Martha Stewart’s Household, She Reveals in Heartbreaking Instagram Post

Pets, for many people—including me, become beloved members of the family. In many cases, the pet is more loved than some of the human family members.

Warning: If you’re a pet-lover what you are about to read is disturbing.

Tragedy Strikes Martha Stewart’s Pets, She Reveals in Heartbreaking Instagram Post

And that is why Martha Stewart’s latest Instagram post is so tragic. On April 3, Stewart released a statement revealing that her beloved cat, Princess Peony, died in the most tragic way.

Along with a photo of Princess Peony’s burial site, Stewart revealed that her cat was killed by her four dogs. “Burying the beautiful and unusual Princess Peony,” Stewart began.

“The four dogs mistook her for an interloper and killed her defenseless little self. I will miss her very badly. RIP beauty!”

How heartbreaking is that? According to E! News, Stewart welcomed Princess Peony and her sister, Empress Tang, into her home in 2009. They were just 4 months old at the time.

The famous homemaker’s dogs include French Bulldogs named Creme Brulee and Bete Noire and two Chow Chows named Emperor Han and Empress Qin.

“To know Martha Stewart is to know how much she loves all animals of all kinds. Whether it’s dogs, cats, or even miniature donkeys and chickens, she’s found room for dozens of creatures over the years in her home, on her farm, and in her heart,” her website reads. “And lucky for all of us, Martha loves sharing her pets with everyone else, whether it means posting photos of them on social media or even bringing them onto her television shows.”

Several famous friends offered their condolences on Martha’s Instagram page. From Kris Jenner and Ellen Pompeo to Douglas Friedman, they all added how sorry they were for her loss.

Many other commenters admitted they were “horrified” by the news. And a few others were also understanding of Stewart’s situation.

“I’m so sorry. At the end of the day, animals are animals, no matter how domesticated so it’s understandable, but nonetheless so painful.”

Our thoughts are with Martha during this difficult time.
