Travis Scott Issues Statement After 8 People Died At Astroworld Festival: ‘I Am Absolutely Devasted’

Travis Scott revealed that he is heartbroken over the tragic incident at his Astroworld music festival in Houston on Friday.

At least eight people have died during the 29-year-old rapper’s performance at NRG Park, while over 300 people were treated on scene, Houston Fire Chief Sam Peña informed CNN on Saturday morning.

Of those dead are a 14-year-old, a 16-year-old and a 27-year-old. Two were 21 and two others were 23. Another victim’s age has not been identified. Of the 25 people initially transported to the hospital, 13 remain hospitalized.

Scott said his “prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival” in a statement he shared Saturday on Twitter.

“Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life,” he wrote.

“I am committed to working together with the Houston community to heal and support the families in need.”

Kylie Jenner, who is pregnant with her second child, and her sister Kendall Jenner were both at the festival and thankfully, were unharmed, per the source. “Everyone is shocked and upset.”

Saturday’s portion of the festival has since been canceled.

“Our hearts are with the Astroworld Festival family tonight – especially those we lost and their loved ones. We are focused on supporting local officials however we can,” Astroworld Festival organizers wrote before announcing Saturday’s cancelation.

“As authorities mentioned in their press conference earlier, they are looking into the series of cardiac arrests that took place. If you have any relevant information on this, please reach out to @HoustonPolice. Thank you to our partners at the Houston Police Department, Fire Department, and NRG Park for their response and support,” the festival continued.

A security officer is believed to have been pricked in the neck according to Houston Police Chief Troy Finner.

Medical staff report that the unidentified security guard informed police that the man was reaching over to restrain or grab a citizen when he felt a prick in his neck.

The security guard “went unconscious” while being examined but thankfully, medical staff administered Narcan and saved him.

“He was revived, and the medical staff did notice pricks that were similar to when somebody’s trying to inject,” Finner told reporters.
