Tragic news is coming out of Hollywood. According to reports, legendary actor Treat Williams, best known for his role in Hair and so many more, has died.
And now, his beloved daughter Ellie is speaking out. In a statement shared on her Instagram Story, Ellie wrote, “This is a pain I have never felt. I am absolutely shattered.”
”Thank you to everyone who has sent messages and kept our family in your hearts during this terrible heartbreak.”
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, his longtime agent Barry McPherson also shared a statement with People initially confirming that Treat had died at 71 after he was involved in a motorcycle accident.

“He was killed this afternoon. He was making a left or a right [and] a car cut him off. I’m just devastated. He was the nicest guy. He was so talented,” McPherson claimed.
“He was an actor’s actor. Filmmakers loved him. He’s been the heart of Hollywood since the late 1970s. He was really proud of his performance this year. He’s been so happy with the work that I got him. He’s had a balanced career.”
The crash reportedly took place in Dorset, Vermont, around 5 pm on June 12. Jacob Gribble, the fire chief for Dorset, told People that the accident involved a single car and Treat’s motorcycle.
It’s believed that the driver of the car didn’t see the motorcycle while making the turn. Williams was the only one who sustained injuries and was airlifted from the scene to a hospital in New York before he succumbed to his injuries.
While Williams has been making movies for nearly 50 years, he’s also become somewhat of a staple in Netflix’s and Hallmark’s Christmas projects in recent years.
Several of his co-stars have begun to share their own tributes on social media.
Matt Boomer wrote:
“This is a tough one, and I don’t like doing this on social media, but I want to share what an absolute treasure Treat Williams was- both as an actor and a person. I was so honored that he agreed to play my father on White Collar, and he jumped in and made every day on set a joy. He taught me in the most beautiful way- through patient example. He’s one of the few actors I’ve worked with who always checked in on me – even years after we worked together. Treat- you were an amazing actor and an even better person and I will miss you. I count myself so blessed to have known you. My heart goes out to your wife and children. Rest in Peace my friend.”
Williams is survived by his wife, Pam Van Sant, and their two children, Gill and Ellie. Our hearts are with them during this truly tragic time.
