Trista Sutter just pulled the curtain back on “The Bachelorette.” The first-ever bachelorette to star on the hit ABC show, recently confirmed that the show sometimes has manufactured storylines.
Trista, who found love on the first season of the reality TV show with Ryan Sutter, recently appeared on the “LadyGang” podcast to discuss her time on the show. Trista told the hosts that during her 2003 on-air wedding to Ryan, she found a binder full of detailed storylines accidentally left out by a producer.

“At our wedding, maybe actually it was at our bachelor/bachelorette party, one of the producers left their binder out — like they forgot their binder somewhere and one of the people who was at the bachelor/bachelorette party picked it up and gave it to us,” the mom-of-two shared. “And it had, like, their characters, like the storylines for every person. They had all of our friends who were invited to the bachelor/bachelorette parties. They had, you know, all of their bios and, you know, probably some stuff that they interviewed about. And then, I think they had titles, like maybe like the villain or the sweetheart.”
On the podcast, she also revealed that the producers basically forced her into having Charlie Maher, the season’s runner-up, act as the wedding’s host. Trista admitted having him there was “a little awkward.”
“They came to us and they said to us, ‘Do you want us to be in your face all day long – all day?’ And we were like, ‘No, of course not,’” she said. “They were like, ‘If you don’t want us around all day long, then you’re going to have to have Charlie be the commentator or the correspondent.’”
Trista wasn’t upset by finding the binder, noting that it was just part of the producers’ job to get details about each guest at her wedding.
“The editors need to know who these people are to pull, you know, certain clips,” she concluded.
The discovery didn’t change the fact that her wedding was “super fun” and not an experience she regrets.
