Elliott reportedly realized he was not dreaming and came to only to discover that his sister was bleeding from a knife wound in her neck. According to the teen, he turned on the lights, removed the weapon, and applied pressure to the puncture wound with a pillow.
According to the teen, he eventually ran from his sister’s room into his bedroom to call 911.
The 911 operator walked Elliott through the steps of CPR on his twin sister who had no fewer than two stab wounds in her neck. Seven minutes passed before the teen thought to alert his parents that their daughter was gravely injured. WLTX reports that the parents could be heard screaming and crying in the background of the 911 call.
The teen was arrested Wednesday and booked in Harris County Jail, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
He reportedly told police that he does not suffer any sort of sleep irregularity and that he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Elliott was charged with first-degree murder following the tragic incident and his bond was set at $100,000. Instead of appearing at his first scheduled court appearance, he was screened by a mental health unit.
Authorities have yet to determine a motive for the stabbing and an investigation is ongoing. As part of the investigation, a search warrant was obtained and the murder weapon had been recovered, the Houston Chronicle reported.
The Chronicle spoke to a neighbor who claimed to have seen the twins get on the school bus together often. He claimed that the pair always seemed to get along.
