The gender reveal trend isn’t new, so it can be tough to come up with unique ways of finding out whether you’re having a boy or a girl. Many couples have done the tried-and-true confetti balloon, pink or blue iced cake, or blue or pink smoke bombs to reveal the gender of their baby, much to the delight of friends and family.
If you’re looking for some different ways of finding out the gender of your baby, we’ve rounded up some of the more unique reveals you can use to announce whether you’re having a boy or a girl.
7 Unique Gender Reveal Ideas
Pinatas are already in the “win” category since they can be packed with candy (we recommend filling it with all of your crave-worthy sweets), but they’re also a fun way to do a gender reveal. You can choose one that’s filled with either pink or blue confetti from sites like Etsy.
Announcing whether you’re having a boy or a girl using a scratch-off card is an especially good gender reveal if you live far from friends and family. You can choose from lots of different styles that allow you to make the announcement in a personalized way even if you’re not able to be together for the official reveal.
Donut You Love This Idea?
You’ve seen gender reveal cupcakes and cakes, but donuts are the new trend for revealing your baby’s gender. You can get a box of donuts decorated with pink and blue with the cream in the center revealing whether you’re having a boy or girl.
Baseball fan? A perfectly-timed pitch is a great way to reveal whether you’re having a boy or a girl. You can get a pink or blue-filled baseball and knock it out of the park to reveal your baby’s gender.
You Can’t Make This Up
This couple revealed the gender of their twins using makeup. Both the husband and wife were blindfolded while the wife applied pink and blue lipstick to reveal that they were having one of each.
You Got Slimed
This gender reveal is for the more adventurous and involves getting blue or pink slime dumped on your head. This couple stood in an inflatable pool while wearing full-body protective gear and waiting for the slime drop to reveal they’re having a boy.
Baby, You’re a Firework
If you want to go big for the gender reveal announcement, you can set-up blue or pink fireworks to reveal the baby’s gender to friends and family — it’s a fireworks display no one will soon forget!
No matter how you decide to reveal your baby’s gender (or if you decide to keep the news to yourself until the little one arrives), the experience will be a memorable one and is just the beginning step of getting to know your little one. Congratulations to all the new parents out there!
When I’m not hanging out with my three-year-old and husband in Brooklyn, I’m busy writing stories for Mamas Uncut and managing PR + Marketing for Magnolia Bakery, based in New York City. On weekends, you can usually find me at a local park or playground pushing my daughter on the swings, “researching” the best almond croissants in Park Slope or launching into impromptu family dance parties at home, the sidewalk or, every once in awhile, a restaurant bathroom. I’m still trying to master the whole parenting thing, but I have learned that copious amounts of coffee, humor and humility are involved on a daily basis.
Mamas Uncut is the place for moms online. We cover the latest news around motherhood and parenting, plus entertainment news as well – all with a mom-focused twist. Looking for parenting advice? We have plenty of it, all for moms, from moms. Our mission is focused solely on empowering moms and moms-to-be with the knowledge and answers they’re looking for. We don’t stop there though, we have expert advice on a range of topics, and all of our categories get updated multiple times a day, so if there’s one website for moms you need to bookmark, it’s Mamas Uncut.
