Terrifying home security video shows a man walking into a family’s home and snatching their little 4-year-old son out of his bed. Just hours later, as KVUE reports, that 4-year-old, who was identified as Cash Gernon, was found lying in a street, deceased.
According to local police, Cash was found by officers with multiple wounds all over his body after he was reported missing around 10:48 a.m. Saturday morning. The boy was living with his father’s ex-girlfriend.
Now members of Cash’s family are now speaking out following the terrifying security footage and the child’s horrific passing. In an interview with KVUE, Kamron Mori, a family member, admitted that the whole situation confuses him.

“Honestly, I’m confused, bro,” Mori said. “Like why? He’s 4, ya know. Like who does this to a 4-year-old kid?”
According to Mori, his mother and Cash’s father had broken up, but when the father left, he left his children behind with Mori’s mom. Mori said while Cash and his twin sibling weren’t biologically a part of his family, he felt like they were.
As Mori explained, his mom’s ex-boyfriend had taken the children away from their biological mom. Their biological mom, Melinda Seagroves, had been looking for them ever since. Following Cash’s passing, Seagroves was reunited with her other twin.
Mori also talked about what they saw on the security video that was taken the night Cash disappeared.
“It shows him coming in, took him while he was asleep. While he is asleep. He carried him out of my house while he is asleep.”
The man seen in the video taking Cash has been identified as 18-year-old Darriynn Brown.
As Mori told KVUE, he did attend school with Brown, but as for his motive, Mori says he has no idea why Brown would allegedly do something like this. “Random. Yes. Random out of nowhere, for no reason. There’s not a reason for none of this. It’s not from revenge. Not from hate. Not from none of that. Nothing. To get back at us? Nothing.”
“Why couldn’t he do it to me? I rather me than him. You know what I’m saying? Like, I’m older, so you could have taken me out,” Mori continued. “He was the sweetest boy ever.”
Brown has since been arrested and, so far, charged with kidnapping and theft. Police believe Brown will face more charges as the investigation continues.
