What was meant to be only a joke on his grandmother has turned into a debate. Stèwart McGònigle took to TikTok in an attempt to play a prank on his grandmother.
The prank was showing his grandmother a photo of a baby and telling her it belonged to someone in their family while recording her reaction. He then joked that that family member was actually on FaceTime to embarrass his grandmother.

Viral TikTok Joke Using a Baby’s Photo Has Some People Angry
In the video, you can hear Stewart say, “Oh nan, look, Annie had a ween.” After the grandma saw the photo of the “ugly” baby, she made a face while saying, “Did she? Oh god,” with a disgusted look on her face. It was then that her grandson said, “Nan, she’s on FaceTime.”
The grandmother then tried to recover by saying she thought the baby was “nice” and then asked her grandson to take the phone away from her. And while some thought the practical joke was comical, others felt it unnecessary, especially given that joke was actually meant to call someone’s child “ugly.”
One person wrote, “Seriously,” before Stewart replied to the comment with question marks. The same commenter then wrote, “If it needs to be explained you definitely won’t understand.”
“I am sorry, your gran is funny but that’s is someone’s baby,” another person added. “This is someone’s actual baby. Not funny, it’s shameful actually,” a third person wrote.
“What is wrong with you? And all the people laughing? It’s a freaking innocent baby,” someone else wrote. “There’s nothing wrong with the wee innocent baby.”

However, despite the backlash, the trend caught on and now several hundred people have pulled the same prank on other people. It’s unclear if the actual parents of that child know his photo has gone viral on TikTok.
