Update: 10/3/2023 at 8:15 a.m. EST: New information regarding the suspect has been shared with the public. According to New York State Police, the suspect arrested during the search for Charlotte Sena has been identified at Craig Ross Jr.
Ross is 47 years old and sustained minor injuries while resisting arrest. As NBC News reports, investigators were able to identify Ross through his fingerprints.
During a press conference, New York Governor Kathy Hochul revealed the fingerprints were pulled from the ransom letter that was left at Sena’s home. “He literally drove up to the family’s mailbox … at 4:20 in the morning,” Governor Hochul claimed.
While testing the fingerprints, police ended up getting a match to date taken during a 1999 DWI arrest. Ross allegedly lived with his mom in an RV trailer, the site where he was arrested on Monday evening.
Charlotte Sena was then found inside the trailer hiding in one of the cupboards. “She knew she was in safe hands,” Hochul told news organizations.
“This investigation is a culmination of multiple agencies working together for the common goal of bringing this child home to her loving family,” state police said.
As Mamas Uncut reported last night, 9-year-old Charlotte went missing at a campsite while riding her bike. Officers revealed on October 2 that “Charlotte Sena has been located and in good health.”
Prior to being abducted, Sena was riding her bike by herself at Moreau Lake State Park in Saratoga, New York on Saturday Night when she never returned to the campsite her parents were renting. Roughly a half hour after she was last seen, an Amber Alert was activated.
Police believed at the time Sena had been abducted and was in “imminent danger of serious harm and/or death.” Prior to her being found, her aunt Jene, told NBC News that it felt as though Charlotte “disappeared almost into thin air.”
“I mean it was, minutes, minutes between when she was last seen and when she wasn’t there anymore.”
