She Tried to Convince the World She Is Madeleine McCann, Now the DNA Test Results Are In | Several weeks after a teenager claimed she was Madeleine McCann, the results of the DNA test she took have been revealed.

As Mamas Uncut previously reported, a 19-year-old known as Julia Wendelt created an Instagram account called “I am Madeleine McCann” that she used in an attempt to convince the world she was the 3-year-old child who went missing from her family’s vacation home in 2007.

Wendell was so sure she was McCann that she agreed to a DNA test. Now, the world knows the results of that test.

According to Wendelt’s DNA results, she is not McCann.

Over the last few weeks, amidst her claims she was McCann, Wendelt’s mom begged her daughter to stop pushing the false claims. But Julia persisted.

Julia has since shared a statement with those following the story after DNA confirmed she was not McCann. “I have to say I never said I am Madeleine. I always said that I believe I could be Madeleine,” Julia said, before hitting back at claims that she is “delusional or crazy.”

“You can judge all of this things again and try to create another new opinion. I never wanted publicity.”

Now that this part of the story has come to an end, McCann remains missing as the 16th anniversary of her disappearance looms. As it has been reported, on May 3, 2007, McCann was abducted from her parents’, Gary McCann and Kate McCann, vacation home in Praia da Luz, Portugal.

Gary and Kate were at a nearby restaurant with friends that night, leaving Madeleine alone with her 2-year-old twin siblings as they slept. Gary and Kate claimed that they checked on their three children throughout the night, only to discover their 3-year-old daughter missing during one of those check-ins.

Kate and Gary were aware of Wendelt’s claims and at one point advocated for the DNA test, although they were never truly convinced it seems. Kate and Gary have not yet issued a statement since the DNA test results were revealed.
