Model Gigi Hadid and former One Direction member Zayn Malik have issued individual statements after reports suggested that Malik struck Gigi’s mother, Yolanda Hadid. According to reports, TMZ alleged that Zayn struck Yolanda during a dispute regarding Zayn and Gigi’s 13-months-old daughter, Khai.
As TMZ continued, Zayn Malik has openly adamantly denied hitting his child’s grandmother. “I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid,” the former One Direction artist said. “For the sake of my daughter, I decline to give any further details.”

In addition, the singer added that he hopes Yolanda “will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private.” Nonetheless, Zayn later took to Twitter to share a lengthier statement regarding the allegations against him.
“As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in. A place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stages for all to poke and pike apart. In an effort to protect that space for her I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago.”
Zayn Malik continued to say that the personal matter should have stayed private but that it was instead “leaked to the press.” Zayn added that he has tried to restore the peace between him and his family.
“This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a matter in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press,” Zayn Malik concluded. “I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly, I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves.”
In earlier interviews, as E! News reported, Gigi Hadid had revealed that Zayn and Yolanda got along very well. “He’s usually on my mom’s side,” Gigi said. “So, he’s smart in that sense.”
Now, Gigi has also issued a statement regarding the family drama reportedly between Zayn and Yolanda. Through her team, Gigi said she “is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time.”
Yolanda has not yet issued a statement of her own.
As a result of the reported issues between Zayn and Yolanda, it is being reported by People that sources are confirming Gigi and the singer are no longer together. The couple has been together off-and-on since 2015.
“They are not together right now. They are both good parents though,” says a Hadid family friend, according to People. “They co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild.”
