7-Year-Old with Down Syndrome Found Bloody on School Bus, and the School Won’t Provide Answers

Mom Elizabeth Aguero is searching for answers after her 7-year-old son, Michael Perrin, was discovered on his school bus with a bloody face, scratches, two fractures, and a black eye. Michael, who has Down syndrome, was supposedly injured after falling on the school bus in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

After 45 minutes on the bus, school officials contacted his mother to come pick up Michael. She arrived to find him in tears and was told by the two nurses who were with him that they were unsure of what had transpired. She was only told that Michael fell off the bus.

The horrified mother opened up to People, “They told me there was an incident and that my son was bleeding. I needed to get there immediately and [they asked], ‘Should [we] call an ambulance?’ It’s hard to describe. It was horrible. It was hard to see my baby covered in blood.”

“Nobody wants to see their child hurt. There was no reason for my son to fall on his head. It’s hard. They said they don’t know exactly what happened. The school wouldn’t allow me to see the [surveillance video].”

Michael’s brother, Angel Rivera, also shared an update with photos, asking followers to put pressure on the school to reveal answers. The post has been shared more than 372,00 times as of this writing.

Elizabeth took her son to St. Luke’s Hospital’s Monroe Campus for treatment. After Resica Elementary School officials declined to show Elizabeth the surveillance footage, she filed a police report with the Pennsylvania State police.

The Mysterious Surveillance Footage

At that point, the police apparently did share the security camera footage of the incident. According to People, the footage shows Michael did in fact fall, but Elizabeth says the staff on the bus was “negligent” and that she wants justice for her son.

“I don’t want this to happen to another kid. Another kid may not survive this,” Elizabeth told People. “I want better training. Michael is not the first, but I want him to be the last. No one should have immunity against child negligence. That was total negligence. Michael is a special needs child. I want justice.”
