Fans Blasted Khloé Kardashian for Teaching Daughter ‘Toxic Diet Culture,’ and Khloé Clapped Back

Thanks to her flooded Instagram feed, Khloé Kardashian has been giving the world a front-row seat to her luxurious Bahamas getaway with 16-month-old daughter True Thompson and family. While it’s mainly been coordinated swimsuit bliss and rainbows, the mom-of-one recently caught some flack for supposedly teaching her baby girl toxic diet culture.

The Revenge Body star shared an adorable pic of True and cousin Chicago (the 19-month-old daughter of Kim Kardashian) sharing sips and savory snacks with a caption joking about how calories don’t count on vacation.

“Chi: I heard my mama say ‘vacation calories don’t count,’” joked Khloé, imagining a conversation between the tots. “True: Don’t tell me twice Chi.”

While most fawned over how adorable the cousin duo looked while digging into Cheeto Puffs and Veggie Straws, some followers were quick to slam Khloé for joking about calories when it comes to kids.

“Omg a baby doesn’t need to be counting calories,” one commenter said.

“Teaching your children toxic diet culture,” another comment began. “That’s sick. You are role models for your children, and if you plant into their heads that early that calories matter and they need to look a certain way and can’t enjoy certain food unless they’re ‘on vacation’ or similar mentalities, it’s toxic. Teach your children moderation not restriction.”

“It’s strange and concerning to attribute this ‘diet culture’ language to baby girls,” said another commenter.

Never one to hold her tongue, Khloé clapped back in a comment, saying, “Obviously. You’re not well if you think babies count calories,” and added an eye-rolling emoji. As an ambassador for the summer of self-love, we’re sure the mama is always celebrating her little one and her understandable love of salty beach treats.

Still, it’s an important conversation to have, especially considering how frequently the Kardashians have been accused of promoting less-than-healthy products and trends to their followers. Khloé Kardashian was most likely just making a diet-related joke, but you can’t blame people for being skeptical when it comes to something as important as food, diet, and child health and safety.
