A 15-year-old sophomore student is in custody after he opened fire at a Michigan high school. According to CNN, the school shooting has left three people dead and six more injured.
Police Believe 3 Deceased Victims Are Students After 15-Year-Old Opens Fire in Michigan High School
The shooting took place at Oxford High School in Oxford Michigan. It has been reported by Oakland County Undersheriff Michael G. McCabe that the three deceased victims were all students at the high school.
One of the six injured has been reported as a teacher. “We received over 100 911 calls to our dispatch center,” McCabe said during his initial statements.
McCabe continued that within five minutes of police arriving at the scene the shooter was apprehended without incident. The first of the myriad of 911 calls came in at 12:51 p.m. It’s unclear at what time the police arrived at the school.
“At this point in time, we believe he acted alone,” McCabe continued. The full identity of the suspect has not yet been revealed to the public. His motive also has yet to be revealed.
In a statement issued by Oxford Community School officials, it reveals that the “Oakland County Sheriff’s Department has secured the scene.”
“Oxford High School students and staff are systematically being evacuated to the Meijer Garden Center and may be picked up there. Any students with their own transportation have been allowed to leave. All other district schools are in lockdown for safety purposes and are in no danger.”
Despite no other threats being suspected, police were double-checking the school to make sure all of the students who were in hiding had been reunited with their parents. Police say the suspect was in possession of a handgun when he was apprehended.
