We can’t even imagine what must have been running through this mom’s mind when she stumbled across a journal entry from her 17-year-old son, detailing his plans to carry out a mass shooting at his high school.
The Washington state woman contacted authorities after her discovery and her son was soon arrested.
Mom Stops School Shooting After Finding Son’s Plans in Journal
His mother, Nicole, shared her experience with CBS. “I know a lot of people that go to College Place High School. Their lives would have been forever changed. It’s devastating. I know I did all I can do and that I made the right choice.”
The teenager journaled about attacking the school on April 20, 2020, the anniversary of Columbine.
Nicole’s son allegedly claimed that the journal entry was a creative writing exercise and deemed it “just a story.”

The mother struggled with the decision to turn in her son and told CBS “it wasn’t easy.”
“I’m worried about his mental health and he needs help. Truth hurts sometimes,” Nicole shared.
The local police chief praised Nicole. “She’s very courageous. It’s clearly very emotional for her. She loves her son.”
