Jayden Espinosa: 5-Year-Old Boy Saves 13 From Fire

This 5-Year-Old Boy Saved 13 People from a Burning Building

A 5-year-old boy became a hero late last month after saving 13 people from a burning building. A fire broke out in the Chicago Back of the Yards neighborhood in the early hours of the morning on July 27. However, the building’s fire alarms did not go off to warn the residents.

Jayden Espinosa had been staying at his aunt’s house with his two sisters when the fire broke out. Everyone in the family was asleep, except for Jayden. He told Fox 32 Chicago that he “smelled the smoke and I got up and went outside.”

He ran to get his aunt and sisters out of the house as quickly as possible. Jayden also ran downstairs to wake the neighbors and to tell them out of the house. He was able to save all 13 people who lived in the building because of his quick, heroic actions.

When asked how he knew how to respond, Jayden said, “Because I’m smart and brilliant.”

The American Red Cross is helping Jayden and his family. They have also set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money to replace all that was lost in the fire.

With all of the bad news out there these days, it’s nice to have a hero to look up to. The world needs more Jaydens!
