Alec Baldwin Sued By the Man Who Held Halyna Hutchins After She was Shot, DA Says She Knows Who Loaded the Gun

As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Serge Svetnoy was the chief of lighting on the set of Rust. He was also a close friend of Halyna Hutchins, who was accidentally shot by actor Alec Baldwin on the set of the movie.

Following the tragic incident that left Hutchins, a mother, dead and the director of the movie injured, Svetnoy wrote an emotional Facebook post about his last interaction with Halyna Hutchins. After revealing that he had worked with Hutchins on nearly every one of her movies, Serge Svetnoy wrote that he was “standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Halyna during this fatal shot that took her life and injured the director Joel Souza.”

He went on to say that he “was holding her in my arms while she was dying. Her blood was on my hands.”

“I want to tell my opinion on why this has happened. I think I have the right to do it. It’s the fault of negligence and unprofessionalism. The negligence from the person who was supposed to check the weapon on the site did not do this; the person who had to announce that the loaded gun was on the site did not do this; the person who should have checked this weapon before bringing it to the set did not do it. And the DEATH OF THE HUMAN IS THE RESULT!”

In the end, Svetnoy said that he does “not wish anyone to go through what I went through, what her husband Matt Hutchins and her son Andros went through, and the actor Alec Baldwin, who has been handed a gun on set. He has to live with the thought that he took the life of the human because of unprofessional people.”

Now, Svetnoy is suing Alec Baldwin, Rust producers, armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, and assistant director Dave Halls. In the lawsuit, obtained by People, Svetnoy each of these individuals failed to implement and maintain “industry standards” for control over firearms used on the movie set.

The lawsuit claimed that because he was so close to the blast “discharge materials from the blast struck [him] directly.” However, he was not injured.

“Simply put there was no reason for a live bullet to be placed in that .45 Colt revolver or to be present anywhere on the Rust set, and the presence of a bullet in that revolver posed a lethal threat to everyone in its vicinity.”

While the investigation into the on-set shooting continues, the District Attorney involved in the case told Good Morning America that she knows who loaded the gun that was handed to Alec Baldwin on set before Hutchins was shot. However, while she knows who loaded the gun, how the live round ended up in the firearm, Carmack-Altwies admitted “We don’t have an answer to that yet.”
