Alec Baldwin is thanking his beloved wife, Hilaria Baldwin, for standing by his side while he continues to live through the tragic shooting death of his co-worker. As Mamas Uncut previously reported, in 2021, Alec was holding a prop gun while marking a scene for a new movie.
While practicing how he would remove the gun from his holster, the gun somehow discharged killing Halyna Hutchins and injuring the director.
In a post shared by Hilaria last month, she shared a photo of her hand on his with the caption reading, “I am not going anywhere. Take all the time to be sad. I am here.”
After New FBI Report, Alec Baldwin Admits He Can’t Understand Those Who Blame Him For Accidental On-Set Shooting
Baldwin replied to the Instagram post in the comments. He wrote, “I never realized how a thing such as this could unfold this way. Everyone on that set knows what happened. Everyone. And yet the depiction in the press has, by and large, obviated all of that.”
“Although there are only two actual victims in this case, I find it difficult to endure the insistence of so many that I woke up that day and violated every safety procedure I had learned over 40 years. All the while, the question of where any live ammunition came from remains unanswered.”
Alec then thanked Hilaria for all her support. “If not for you, I cannot imagine how life would be right now.”
Hilaria then publicly responded to Alec’s comment, slamming journalists for how they’ve covered the incident. “The sadness I see you carry around daily breaks my heart. People making money and getting attention at other people’s expense. A cruelty I would never have completely believed before this life with you. It’s an inhumane and dangerous use of the important and sacred power journalists should have…if only they could for one minute put themselves in the shoes of all the people who were at this tragedy,” she began.
“If their hearts could grow and embrace all of you with empathy. Halyna is tragically gone and those who love her are forever broken, Joel will carry scars on his body and memory, you…replaying it day and night..the sounds, sights, and physical, haunting your waking and sleeping hours. For those gawking and gossiping, for one minute imagine themselves forever changed due to an error, incompetence, or malice.
And then to double down on and poke at the inevitable torture that the trauma alone has scarred. I don’t know why and how this happened, but we desperately want an answer. I just wish that in the meantime, I could protect you from more cruelty. We cannot force these people, but we can be a mighty support system…all of the people who are reading this and all of us who love you so. We see you and we hold you. You are safe with us, Alec.”
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Alec Baldwin initially spoke out after ABC News released the findings of the FBI forensic report in an interview with The Chris Cuomo Project. While talking with Cuomo, Baldwin reiterated what he said in his Instagram comment.
“I know that every single person on the set of the film knows what happened,” Baldwin continued. “The people that are talking loudest about what happened or speculating about what happened were not on the set of the film … they talk on and on and on about ‘what if’ this and ‘what if’ that.”
“They have dined out on this, and the thing that they have in common is nobody was there. And everybody who was there, they know exactly what happened.” Baldwin maintained that, despite the report, he did not pull the trigger.
Back in December, Alec Baldwin did an interview with ABC News. During that interview, Baldwin said that “the trigger wasn’t pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger. I would never point a gun at someone and pull the trigger on them, never.”
While Baldwin himself has yet to make a personal statement regarding the FBI’s findings, an attorney for the actor, Luke Nikas, did issue a statement to ABC News. The lawyer said the report is “being misconstrued,” adding that, “the gun fired in testing only one time — without having to pull the trigger — when the hammer was pulled back and the gun broke in two different places. The FBI was unable to fire the gun in any prior test, even when pulling the trigger, because it was in such poor condition.”
Nikas continued by saying “the critical report is the one from the medical examiner, who concluded that this was a tragic accident.”ABC News also obtained the postmortem report which revealed that “based on all available information, including the absence of obvious intent to cause harm or death, the manner of death is best classified as accident.”
“This is the third time the New Mexico authorities have found that Alec Baldwin had no authority or knowledge of the allegedly unsafe conditions on the set, that he was told by the person in charge of safety on the set that the gun was ‘cold,’ and believed the gun was safe,” Nikas concluded.
The FBI’s report shared details about their investigation into the shooting that killed Halyna Hutchins on the set of Alec Baldwin’s movie Rust. In the FBI’s forensic report, it was revealed that the FBI found that the gun was “intact and functional.” Further, the report reveals that the gun “could not be made to fire without a pull of the trigger” unless the hammer of the revolver was “decocked on on a loaded chamber.”

Currently, Santa Fe County Sheriff’s detectives are still investigating Alec Baldwin’s phone records. On August 2, the detectives said “those records are forthcoming.”
