Naomi Osaka Reveals Sex of Her Incoming Baby With Princess-Themed Baby Shower

Naomi Osaka is providing a pregnancy update for all of her fans and followers. The 25-year-old tennis player, who is a soon-to-be mother for the first time, took to Instagram on Friday (June 2) to share photos of her baby shower. In doing so, she revealed the gender of her incoming baby – it’s going to be a girl!

The gender was confirmed with a princess-themed baby shower and a tagline that read, “A Little Princess Is On the Way.” Osaka shared several photos of her in front of the sign – wearing an off-white, jersey-like crop top (with the No. 97 on it, perhaps a nod to her birth year 1997), white pants, and an off-white hat.

Both her hat and shirt were fitted with her infamous ‘NO’ logo, which is a nod to her initials. She captioned the photo with several emojis, including a smiley face, a white heart, and a purple heart – which fell in line with the color scheme for the shower, which included pink, purple, and white flowers and balloons.

In one of the photos, Naomi Osaka was showing off her baby bump as her boyfriend, Cordae, placed his hand over her stomach and kissed the bump. Cordae, a 25-year-old hip hop artist, was wearing a patterned button-down shirt with dark blue jeans and what appeared to be Timberland boots on his feet.

The couple announced their pregnancy on January 11, when Naomi shared photos of an ultrasound on social media. “Can’t wait to get back on the court but here’s a little life update for 2023,” she wrote in the caption, while also sharing a message from her phone’s notes – in which she shared her excitement.

“I realize that life is so short and I don’t take any moments for granted, everyday is a new blessing and adventure,” she wrote in her notes – adding that she has so much to look forward to in 2023. “One thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, ‘That’s my mom.’”

The tennis superstar has been away from the sport since September 2022 – her last match was at the Toray Pan Pacific Open, when she was forced to withdraw due to abdominal pain. She was supposed to compete at the 2023 Australian Open, but withdrew just a few days before her pregnancy was revealed.

Naomi Osaka Waited to Tell Cordae the Gender

In an interview with TODAY, which was published on May 11, Naomi Osaka revealed her decision to keep the sex of her baby a secret from Cordae until the couple’s gender reveal party – which featured their closest friends and family members. While she knew the sex early on, Cordae didn’t know until recently.

“He knows the sex now — it was only a secret until we did the reveal party with our closest family and friends a couple months ago,” Osaka explained. “It was hard to keep it a secret, but I also knew it would be much more fun to surprise him and everyone else during the party, so it was worth the wait.”

She also talked about how her expertise in tennis will help her be a good mother – citing the amount of patience involved in both the game of tennis and parenthood. She explained how tennis requires patience in a variety of ways – including the time it takes to develop and being patient as you wait for the right shot.
