Just 10 days ago, the son of legendary NFL star Ray Lewis celebrated his 28th birthday. Now, the Lewis family is mourning his death.
New reports are revealing that Ray’s son, Ray Lewis III, died on June 15. His little brother Rahsaan Lewis confirmed the news of his tragic passing with an emotional statement shared on Instagram.
“Really can’t believe I’m even typing this but TIP big brother. A true angel I pray your [SIC] peace now because I know how much you was really hurting,” Rahsaad began.
“I don’t and won’t ever have the words, man, cause this pain right here. I love you, I love you, I love you. Your niece gone miss you but she will hear about you over and over. Just watch over us all, big bruh. Be our guardian I promise I’ll make you smile and proud.”
Details surrounding Lewis III’s cause of death have not yet been made public. While Rahsaan noted that his brother was “really hurting,” it’s unclear why Lewis III was in so much pain, TMZ reports.
Ray Lewis III played football like his father, though he never went to the NFL. Ray has yet to make a statement about his son’s passing.
Lewis III’s football career was cut short in 2016 after he was indicted on third-degree sexual assault charges in South Carolina. Those charges were eventually dropped following an investigation by law enforcement.
In 2017, Lewis III returned to the football field to finish up his college career with the Virginia Union Panthers. He later began playing indoor football in Wyoming in 2021.
Lewis III was also an aspiring rapper. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Lewis family during this particularly devastating time.
