Friends star Courteney Cox is revealing she’s often visited by her late friend and co-star Matthew Perry.
In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Cox told reporter Jonathan Vigliotti that Perry was “probably one of the funniest human beings in the world.”
“He’s just so funny,” she continued. “He is genuinely, a huge heart. Obviously struggled. I’m so thankful I got to work so closely with him for so many years.”
Cox’s Friends character Monica Geller married Perry’s character Chandler Bing on the show.
Perry shockingly passed away unexpectedly on October 28, 2023. It was a loss felt by millions.
But despite no longer being physically on earth, Cox admitted she’s visited by Perry quite a bit since his passing.
“He visits me a lot, if we believe in that,” Cox said candidly. “I talk to my mom, my dad, Matthew.”
“I feel like there are a lot of people that are — I think that guide us. I do sense, yeah, I sense Matthew’s around for sure,” she continued.
Perry’s cause of death has been labeled as “acute effects of ketamine.” While drowning, coronary artery disease, and buprenorphine effects were listed as contributing factors.
His death has been officially ruled an accident.
Cox shared her initial remarks following Perry’s passing alongside a clip from their time on Friends when Monica and Chandler get together for the first time.
“I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day,” Courteney shared at the time.
“When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now here’s one of my favorites,” she said of the clip.
“To give a little backstory, Chandler and Monica were supposed to have a one night fling in London. But because of the audience’s reaction, it became the beginning of their love story. In this scene, before we started rolling, he whispered a funny line for me to say. He often did things like that. He was funny and he was kind.”
