After Matthew Perry’s X account saw some unusual activity four months after his passing, his foundation is speaking out.
According to the statement shared on the Foundation’s social accounts, Perry’s personal account as hacked. The hackers attempted to bait Perry’s followers into donations, something not approved by the foundation.
In the statement, the foundation acknowledge the hacked, warning his followers not to engage.
“We have received reports that Matthew’s official X page has been hacked and is directing users to a fraudulent site soliciting donations via cryptocurrency. Please do not donate to this site or share the fraudulent posts on social media. MatthewPerryFoundation.org is the only website associated with the Foundation, and we are only accepting donations through this site.”
UPDATE: On December 15, Matthew Perry’s official cause of death has been revealed.
According to Fox News, the Los Angeles Medical Examiner listed Perry’s cause of death as “acute effects of ketamine” in the autopsy report that was released Friday.
Drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine effects, according to the autopsy, was also listed as a contributing causes.
For those curious, “Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic used medically for induction and maintenance of anesthesia. It is also used as a treatment for depression, a pain management tool, and as a recreational drug.”
The autopsy further adds that Perry’s death “occurred by unknown route of drug intake.”
Matthew Perry’s death certificate has been finalized.
Nearly two weeks after his untimely passing on October 28th and just one week after he was laid in his final resting place, the LA County Department of Public Health has released the certificate.
According to E! News, the death certificate states that Perry passed away on October 28 at 4:17 p.m. His final resting place is listed as Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Perry’s cause of death on the certificate still reads “deferred.”
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, after performing an initial autopsy, the LA County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed they were deferring his cause of death pending toxicology results and a further investigation. They also have not shared his manner of death.
Perry was discovered unconscious in his hot tub. He was just 54 years old.
A statement released by public information officer Erik Scott revealed more information about the moment they received the 911 call for Matthew Perry.
According to Scott, first responders discovered “an adult male unconscious in a stand-alone hot tub.” He confirmed to Fox News that Perry had passed away before paramedics arrived on scene.
“A bystander had brought the man’s head above the water and gotten him to the edge, then firefighters removed him from the water,” Scott continued in his statement. “A rapid medical assessment, sadly, revealed the man was deceased prior to first responder arrival.”
“The circumstances are under investigation by LAPD and the LA County Medical Examiner,” he further revealed. “We mourn with families and friends who lose a loved one unexpectedly.”
While his father, mother, and stepfather were seen at the scene of the tragedy, they have also since shared a personal statement to TMZ. “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother,” the statement began.
“Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love.”
Perry’s castmates from Friends, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, and David Schwimmer also released a statement that read:
“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.
In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
