Like many women, Amy Schumer wasn’t 100 percent sure if she wanted children or not. And when she first started dating her now-husband Chris Fischer, she explained that to him a text exchange she remembers to this day.
However, as many of her fans already know, Schumer’s feelings about becoming a parent eventually changed. She and Fischer have been married since 2018 and they are parents to a 9-month-old baby boy named Gene Attell.

Schumer recently sat down with Oprah Winfrey while a guest on “Oprah’s 2020 Vision Tour: Visionaries” series to talk about her relationship, motherhood, and upcoming projects. During their discussion, the new mom admitted that she told Fischer almost immediately that she didn’t want children.
Amy Schumer Didn’t Want Kids, Then She Fell in Love
“I was texting him early on in our relationship, and I was like, ‘I hope you know – I don’t know if I want kids. So if that’s something you’re looking for, I don’t know if that’s gonna be me,” she told Oprah.
Fischer responded, though, in perhaps the sweetest way possible, saying, “I do want kids, and I want them with you. We’ll have a beautiful family, and I can’t wait.” *Swoon.*
At the time, Schumer explained that they had only been dating for three months, so she wasn’t quite sure where things were going. But since that text exchange, they’ve figured things out. “I feel like when you find the person you wanna be with, it’s easy,” Schumer said of the relationship.
Schumer and Fischer started dating in fall 2016 after being introduced by Schumer’s assistant and Fischer’s sister. They married in a small ceremony on February 13, 2018.

That same year, Schumer announced that she and Fischer were expecting their first child together in October. They eventually welcomed their son, Gene, into the world in May 2019. And now she wants more.
