And just like that, Kate and Jon Gosselin‘s sextuplets are 16 years old. This was something that shocked fans as the parents took to their respective social media pages to wish six of their eight children a very happy birthday.
What remains unclear, however, is if the siblings got to celebrate together, or if they celebrated apart with respect to their different living situations. On May 10, both Kate and Jon took to Instagram to share their own birthday messages to Leah, Joel, Alexis, Hannah, Collin, and Aaden.

As Kate shared, her children wanted to celebrate with sugary cereals and admitted that she may have gone a little overboard when preparing for the celebration. “Happy 16th Birthday to my half a dozen ‘Hershey Kisses’, as they were called at birth,” the mom of 8 shared.
“I love you so much! You’re 6 of the sweetest things to happen to my life! Thanks for making every Mother’s Day extra memorable! (They requested ‘junk cereals’ for their birthday lunch (?!) so I got a bit carried away, as usual, and got them 21 different kinds!”
And as Mady revealed on her own Instagram page, the joint celebration—seeing as though their sweet 16 also landed on Mother’s Day—later continued, safely, at a nearby park. “Such a fun day we had!” Kate commented on her daughter’s post. “Cute pics, Mad!”
And while Kate focused on the day, Gosselin shared how much he misses Leah, Aiden, Joel, and Alexis. “Happy 16th Birthday to Hannah & Collin!!! I miss you Leah, Joel, Alexis, and Aaden. I hope your 16th birthday is just as memorable!!!”
The dad of 8 then added, “Happy 16th to my six wonderful kids!! Been a long road, I wish all the best!! Wow, 16!! Love you all!!”
Hannah and Collin still live with Jon and his longtime girlfriend Colleen. The other kids still live with Kate, although their oldest are now in college.
As many of their fans realized, this is was the first time Kate has posted to her Instagram account since October 2019, when she shared a photo of their two oldest children, Cara and Mady, with a message about how much she loves her children.
“I love these kids fiercely.. and I don’t apologize for my tears. Times have been so tough and so needlessly unfair for them,” Kate wrote. “Despite it all, they’ve turned out to be such wonderful amazing human beings. I cannot wait to see what lies ahead for each of them once they get away from those who have tried to destroy them versus protect them!”
