Baby Yoda Guzzling Eggs Evokes Reactions from Moms and Others

One of the world’s least controversial figures, Baby Yoda has become the target of the internet’s ire after the release of the latest episode of The Mandalorian entitled “The Passenger.” Baby Yoda, who is known as The Child in the series, dipped his toe into the dark side, and fans of the little green dude are none too happy after he ate some eggs.

Eggs? Not just any eggs! The eggs of a Frog Lady who was fleeing from harm and trying to save her species. The episode features Mando (Pedro Pascal) ferrying the Frog Lady and a container of her eggs to a safe place where she can continue her ancestral line. However, Baby Yoda has a taste for huevos and secretly eats her precious eggs throughout the episode and people are mad about it.

Debate online about the ethics of Frog Lady egg-eating has been raging ever since Baby Yoda discovered a love for the taste of spawn.

Throughout the episode of The Mandalorian, Baby Yoda is seen stealing eggs from an alien frog and slurping them down. It was a running gag throughout the episode but many viewers didn’t take lightly.

“I’m a mom. It’s not funny at all to hear mama frog lady go into great detail about how important & beloved her eggs are to her & have to watch them get eaten on 3 separate occasions for s** ts & giggles. Can’t just *one* mom get to survive AND keep her kids,” tweeted one viewer.

The end goal for Frog Lady was to get to a safe place where those delicious eggs could be fertilized before the next equinox. The art manager for the show, Phil Szostak tried to do damage control and picked the best medium for it, Twitter.

“For the record, Chapter 10 of #TheMandalorian makes it clear that the Frog Lady’s eggs are unfertilized, like the chicken eggs many of us enjoy,” Szostak tweeted. “But obviously, chickens aren’t sentient beings and the Child eating the eggs is intentionally disturbing, for comedic effect.”

That explanation didn’t suffice for most viewers who had, up to that point, absolutely adored Baby Yoda. Instead, people online began parsing the ethical integrity of the little Jedi Master in the making.

“For the record, the frog lady was very adamant about the fact that her eggs were important to her, and that it was her last and only chance to have kids, so it’s actually closer to f**king up someone’s [in vitro fertilization] which would be incredibly upsetting for a wannabe mom. it’s not funny,” another user tweeted.

While there were plenty of folks critical of Baby Yoda’s actions, others felt the need to bring things back down to earth. After all, The Mandalorian is a fictional television series that takes place in the Star Wars universe.

“If you are a person living in this world today, and this is the sort of thing that makes you upset, please consider joining one of those one-way missions to Mars,” wrote one person.

Another viewer added that it’s a “TV show. NOT REAL. Now I hope it grows up and becomes a human baby-eating monster that the galaxy cannot stop just for fun because it’s only TV and NOT REAL!”

Which brings us to an interesting point: Is Baby Yoda actually evil? Have we all become so charmed by his sweet coos and wide eyes that we can’t see the monster before us? There are six more episodes left this season so perhaps we’ll find out. Until then, gird your loins.
