Alec Baldwin is no stranger to being a father. He has seven children with his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, all of which are under the age of 10, and his most recent being born in September 2022. He also shares a 27-year-old daughter, Ireland Baldwin, with his ex-wife Kim Basinger – he has eight kids in total.
Over the weekend, he learned that he’ll be taking on a new title by the end of 2023 when his eldest daughter gives birth to her first child, officially making Alec Baldwin a grandfather. His wife recorded his reaction to the news as he sat on a couch with his seven younger children, who explained it to him.
Being a new father himself, you can tell he was shocked to learn that there will be yet another addition to the family coming soon – only this time, it won’t be coming from him and his wife. He was also probably shocked to learn that his 3-month-old daughter will already be an aunt around her first birthday.

Hilaria Baldwin shared the video on her Instagram account. “From all these excited tiny uncles and aunties and grandpa Alec and grandma me… We are so happy for you, Ireland, and Andre…can’t wait to meet the little babe ❤️” she wrote in the caption. Unfortunately, most of the kids were too young to understand.
Carmen, Alec’s 9-year-old daughter, was the one who made the announcement. She started explaining to her siblings what it means to be an uncle or aunt before revealing their new titles. That left Alec Baldwin to ask, “What am I?” to which Carmen replied, “You’re going to be a grandpa. Ireland is pregnant.”
It was a moment many parents and siblings can relate to – with Alec Baldwin immediately putting his hand over his eyes and the kids (at least those that understood) jumping in excitement. While Alec and Hilaria have no plans of having another baby, the Baldwin population still finds a way to increase by one.
Ireland, who made the announcement on January 1st with a sonogram photo on Instagram, commented on Hilaria’s adorable video. “Awwww thank you, guys. The littlest aunts and uncles ❤️” she wrote in the comment. Her boyfriend, Andre Allen Anjos ( known as RAC), commented with several heart emojis.
Alec Baldwin Pokes Fun at the Size of His Family
Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Baldwin recently stepped out for a date night at the 2022 Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award Gala, which was honoring Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Their attendance comes just two months after welcoming their youngest daughter and the couple looked stunning.
At one point during the auction part of the ceremony, Alec Baldwin took the mic and started to pressure people into donating money to charity – which resulted in nearly $200,000 in 90 seconds. When Hilaria vowed to give $10,000, Alec joked, “We were going to give $50,000, but we have seven children.”
It was a funny comment that many parents related to, considering how expensive a child – let alone 7 – can be. Nonetheless, the couple joined dozens of others who donated to charity. Bill Russell, President Volodymyr Zelensky, Michael Polsky, Brian Moynihan, and Frank Baker were also honored.
