On March 20, a source close to former child star Amanda Bynes has confirmed that the actress has been put on a 72-hour psychiatric hold.
According to the source, the psychiatric hold comes after Bynes “hasn’t been in contact with her family for quite some time.”
Amanda Bynes Found Exposed on the Streets of LA Before Being Put on a 5150 Psychiatric Hold
As TMZ reports, Bynes sought out help for herself after finding herself in a psychotic episode this weekend. Bynes was allegedly naked on the streets of Los Angeles when she flagged down a passing vehicle asking for help on the morning on March 19.
The actress allegedly told the driver that she was coming down from a psychotic episode and needed help. She then called 911 herself.

Responding law enforcement took Bynes to a nearby police station where a team of mental health professionals put her on a 5150 psychiatric hold, TMZ reports. No other physical injuries were reported.
As Today reports, just one year ago, Bynes had her conservatorship dissolved by a judge. She had been under the conservatorship since 2013, and the decision to terminate the arrangement was supported by her parents.
At the time, Bynes shared a statement on March 22, 2022, writing, “In the last several years, I have been working hard to improve my health so that I can live and work independently, and I will continue to prioritize my well-being in this next chapter. I am excited about my upcoming endeavors — including my fragrance line — and look forward to sharing more when I can.”
TMZ reports that Bynes remains hospitalized, and although the hold is currently only 72 hours, it can be extended if needed.
