Queen of all things good in this world, Amy Schumer, is rolling into the recent Royal drama. Shortly after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, or the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, announced they would, “step back as senior members of the Royal Family,” Amy was already cracking jokes.
The comedian took to her Instagram to post about stepping down from her own “royal duties.” This isn’t the first time Amy has compared herself to Duchess Meghan and we sure hope it’s not the last. As long as Amy’s doing them, we’re here for the Megxit jokes.
Soon after Harry and Megan announced their intentions to step away from the Royal Family, Amy posted a photo of herself in a beach wheelchair.
Amy posted a photo of herself in a beach wheelchair with her husband, Chris Fischer pushing her in it. She captioned the photo, “Chris and I are formally stepping down from our royal duties. We appreciate your support.”
Hilarious! The funny post isn’t the first time she’s joked about and compared herself to Meghan Markle.
Back in December of 2018, Amy filmed an interview for InStyle, where she called Meghan her “nemesis.”
The video for InStyle, titled “How to Not Give A Sh*t” shows Amy giving life advice. She has a few tips for women and others for how to not care what others think. In tip number two, “Everyone’s a Narcissist,” Amy says that everyone’s too obsessed with themselves to care about you. She goes on to describe her nemesis: Meghan Markle.
“Why is she my nemesis?” Amy asks. “Because she’s pregnant at the same time as me and I’m not letting her get away with that,” Amy answers her own question.
She goes on to describe her fake rivalry with the royal, “So maybe I’m feeling competitive, like, ‘Oh, Meghan looks better than me and she has a tiny small bump and she’s wearing high heels, and I already look 10 months pregnant and I’ve been wearing flats for the last four years.’”
Ahead of Meghan’s pregnancy announcement, Amy also had jokes.
Amy posted a photoshopped photo of herself and her husband. Their faces were superimposed over the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s. The photo was famous because it showed Meghan touching her belly and at the time, news outlets and Royal-watchers were losing their minds over it.
Amy captioned the photo, “About to announce some exciting news…”
Amy joked again about Meghan while experiencing morning sickness.
Amy posted a photo to her Instagram story of her leaned over the toilet. Apparently, the star was experiencing morning sickness and thought it would make a great joke. She captioned the photo, “Today Markle is in Figi #same.”
The hilarious take on morning sickness was referring to Meghan and Harry’s Royal tour to Fiji. While the Royal couple was experiencing paradise, Amy was experiencing nausea.
After giving birth, Amy referred to her child as the “royal baby.”
After giving birth to her son, Gene, Schumer shared a photo of herself holding the newborn. She captioned the photo, “10:55 pm last night. Our royal baby was born.”
Just hours after Amy announced the birth of her son, Meghan gave birth to her own. It’s such a funny coincidence that Amy and Meghan experienced their pregnancies at the exact same time. Amy is a comedic genius for picking up on it and turning it into a bit.
You’ll always be our true queen, Amy!
