Anderson Cooper is celebrating his son’s first birthday in an adorable Instagram post that was shared on Thursday, and we can’t stop staring at those chubby cheeks of his! The happy birthday boy, Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper, was born in February 2022 – roughly two years after his big brother, Wyatt Morgan.
Cooper co-parents both children with his former boyfriend, Benjamin Maisani – they made their red carpet debut in 2015 but announced their split 3 years later. While Cooper has said they will never get back together, they’ve remained friends in the 5 years since and take their roles as co-parents seriously.
In the Instagram post on Thursday, Cooper shared a video of his son listening to an old music box that plays the song It’s a Small World. The video gives fans a close-up view of those chubby cheeks as he listens to the song. Cooper went on to explain how the music box used to belong to his late mother.

“Sebastian just celebrated his 1st birthday! He loves listening to an old music box that belonged to my mom. Sebastian is sweet and strong, and smart, and loves his big brother Wyatt a lot. They fill my heart with joy and love in a way I never imagined possible. Happy Birthday, Sebastian!” he wrote in the caption.
Cooper’s first son, Wyatt Morgan, was born in April 2020, and he made the announcement during an episode of his Anderson Cooper 360°. He made a similar announcement in February of last year to commemorate the birth of his second son. Both children were given the surname Maisani-Cooper.
In a separate Instagram post, Kelly Ripa – a close friend of Anderson Cooper – wished Sebastian Luke a happy birthday, sharing a photo of her holding the adorable baby. “Joyeux anniversaire Sebastian ????i love you ????” she wrote in the caption, adding ‘that was a fast year,’ while tagging both co-parents.
Anderson Cooper Takes Pride in Being a Father
Anderson Cooper is always sharing photos of his two boys and isn’t shy about opening up about how wonderful fatherhood has been to him. He shared a touching post on Instagram for Father’s Day, expressing how it used to be a day he would avoid – he lost his father at 10 years old to heart disease.
Now, Father’s Day has new meaning. “The loss of my dad, who died when I was ten, was so painful, and still is at times. But today I celebrated Father’s Day, remembering my dad, Wyatt, with little Wyatt and Sebastian and their Papa, Benjamin. I can’t believe how lucky I am,” he wrote in the caption on June 19.
Cooper also shared a few photos of his two boys for Christmas – it was little Sebastian’s first Christmas! Wyatt, who was named after Cooper’s father, can be seen helping his little brother open presents under the tree as Sebastian gazed up at him – his eyes glued to his big brother. They almost look like twins!

Cooper also mentioned his two sons in a New Year’s Eve post – another day that eerily reminded him of his father, who spent New Year’s in the hospital before passing away five days later. Now, he gets to spend that day with his good friend, Andy Cohen and gets to go home to two beautiful children.
