First Lady Melania Trump Reveals Her Son Barron Trump Had Also Tested Positive for COVID-19, But Showed No Symptoms

In a statement issued by the First Lady Melania Trump, the mom of one revealed that her and the President of the United States’ son, 14-year-old Barron Trump has tested positive for COVID-19. The news comes after both Melania and President Donald Trump also tested positive.

The good news is that Barron did not suffer any known consequences after testing positive. In fact, while his father was hospitalized for a few days after contracting the novel coronavirus, Melania revealed that Barron didn’t show any symptoms.

Barron Trump Revealed to Have Also Tested Positive for COVID-19

“It was two weeks ago when I received the diagnosis that so many Americans across our country and the world had already received—I tested positive for COVID-19,” Melania began her statement which was issued on October 14. “To make matters worse, my husband, and our nation’s Commander-in-Chief, received the same news. Naturally, my mind went immediately to our son.”

At first, Melania revealed that Barron initially tested negative after she and her husband learned they were positive. However, the worried mom knew her son wasn’t out of the woods quite yet.

“…But again, as so many parents have thought over the past several months, I couldn’t help but think “what about tomorrow or the next day?’ My fear came true when he was tested again and it came up positive. Luckily he is a strong teenager and exhibited no symptoms. In one way I was glad the three of us went through this at the same time so we could take care of one another and spend time together.”

Thankfully, like his parents, Barron has since tested negative for the virus.

As Melania continued, she revealed that unlike her son, she did experience symptoms. “I was very fortunate as my diagnosis came with minimal symptoms, though they hit me all at once and it seemed to be a roller coaster of symptoms in the days after,” Melania explained. “I experienced body aches, a cough, and headaches, and felt extremely tired most of the time.”

The First Lady said she “chose to go a more natural route in terms of medicine, opting more for vitamins and healthy food.” She also thanked the “wonderful caretakers” who had cared for them and expressed her gratitude for “the medical care and professional discretion we received from Dr. Conley and his team.”

“It was an unfamiliar feeling for me to be the patient instead of a person trying to encourage our nation to stay healthy and safe. It was me being taken care of now, and getting first-hand experience with all that COVID-19 can do.”

She also noted that she knows how fortunate she and her family is to have received that care. Since then, Melania said while she recovered, she had a lot of time to reflect.

During the time of reflecting, she said she had “thought about the hundreds of thousands of people across our country who have been impacted by this illness that infects people with no discrimination. We are in unprecedented times—and with the election fast approaching, it has been easy to get caught up in so much negative energy.”

Nonetheless, given all that the United States has overcome in the past, she hopes that COVID-19 is another one of those “obstacles we will be able to tell future generations we overcame—and learned from in the process.”
