Beyoncé and Blue Ivy kicked off Sunday night with a bang!
The 94th Academy Awards opened with Venus and Serena Williams, whose childhood as well as rise as tennis legends is depicted in the nominated flick “King Richard,” introducing Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.

Beyoncé went on to perform her Oscar-nominated song “Be Alive,” for the first time. She wrote the piece along with songwriter Dixson.
After Venus and Williams announced the iconic singer at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, the camera cut to a group of women dressed in lime green strutting down the streets of Compton, California, the Williams’ hometown.
The women donned braided hairstyles as well as tennis ball-inspired outfits. Beyonce was then shown in a lime green fit’ while on a Compton tennis court with her background dancers next to her.
Daughter Blue Ivy Carter then joined her mother on the court and sat with the group of dancers posing in front of the musician.

Beyoncé belted along to the lyrics to “Be Alive” while her background dancers chanted “Compton.”
“And can’t nobody knock it if they tried,” she sings. “This is hustle personified.”
Many were quick however to notice the 10-year-old’s impressive performance and were quick to congratulate the mother-daughter performance.
“Yes I did see Miss Blue Ivy she understood her assignment and she did not disappoint.???? she killed it????????????????????” one user wrote.

Followed by: “I think you mean Beyoncé performing with BLUE IVY at the Oscars.”
However, there were some who criticized the performance — saying it was “nepotism” driven.
“She’s not a legend. She’s the daughter of a power couple who can do things average kids cant. There’s nothing wrong with the kid sharing the light her parents busted their behinds to create for her but let’s not idolize as if she’s actually done something to EARN the spot,” one user wrote.
But it was quickly shut down by fellow commenters, because — we are talking about the Queen Bee after all.
“No one should be upset over her helping her daughter with her career . In everyday common jobs we all do the exact same thing. And Ivy is bound to be talented in her own right let That young girl shine her light,” a defensive comment read.
