Blue Ivy Carter Quietly Dropped Her First-Ever Song, Which Now Makes Us Her No. 1 Fans

Earlier, we mentioned that Blue Ivy Carter stole the show in the trailer for Beyoncé‘s Homecoming concert film, which hit Netflix yesterday (April 17, 2019). Little did we know lil’ Blue had bigger things in store.

Not only did Beyoncé’s concert special, which details her iconic taking of the stage at Coachella 2018, arrive as expected, but Queen Bey also dropped a live album to support the documentary.

Hidden way down the track listing — seriously, the thing is 40 songs long! — at No. 36 is a track called “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” But it’s not a new Beyoncé track. No, on it, Blue Ivy takes lead vocals for the first time in her now-officially-started music career.

Of course, Blue Ivy has made brief vocal appearances on her parents’ albums before, but this marks the first occasion the seven-year-old has taken the lead and contributed more than a word or phrase. And one thing is immediately clear: She is destined to be a star!

The song not only showcases Blue’s vocal talents — which, considering her family, should come as no surprise — but also a cute exchange that goes a little something like this:

Blue Ivy: “I wanna do that again!”

Beyoncé: “Oh you want to do it again? You’re like mommy, huh?”

Blue Ivy: “I wanna do that again! It feels GOOD!”

If that isn’t just the cutest thing you’ve ever heard…

It seems Blue Ivy’s career as a global pop star is off to a strong start, and as her No. 1 Fans, we couldn’t be more excited.
