A young boy was sharing a bed with his pregnant mother when he woke up but his mom didn’t. According to reports, the expectant mother didn’t wake up when her son tried to get her up because her boyfriend reportedly beat her to death.
The 8-year-old boy told police he crawled into bed with his mom after watching his mom’s boyfriend hit her. Police are now looking for 23-year-old Alexis Armando Rojas-Mendez.

As KHOU reports, 27-year-old Ashley M. Garcia was discovered on the morning of September 18 after police arrived at her apartment. When police found the young mom, she had “severe trauma all over her body.”
As a result, police “determined she had been beaten to death” and was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s believed she had been dead for “several hours” before Garcia was found.
Garcia was seven weeks pregnant with her fourth child, ABC 13 reported.
Police responded to calls after her son had ventured over to their neighbor’s house for help. According to People, investigators also found blood-spattered walls and floors. Neighbors also say they saw Rojas-Mendez beating Garcia in the parking lot before dragging her and her son into their apartment the night before she was found.
According to court documents obtained by KHOU, Garcia son’s told police that before going to bed with his mom, he watched Rojas-Mendez beating his mother with his steel-toe work boots. Rojas-Mendez then fled the scene. A motive as to why Rojas-Mendez would commit such a heinous crime is not known at the time.
He has been charged with murder. While attempting to locate Rojas-Mendez, investigators said he reached out to his sisters after killing Garcia to ask for money because he had an “out-of-town job.” According to the documents, the sisters said Rojas-Mendez sounded “stressed out” on the phone, but they did not give him any money.
