In what appeared to be another incredible update to this story, despite the FBI only confirming that the backpack and notebook found on October 20 belonged to Brian Laundrie, the Laundrie family lawyer has opened up more about the human remains also found near the personal items. In a statement given to Fox News, Steve Bertolino confirmed that the “probability is high” that remains found at the Florida park belong to Brian.
Bertolino continued to tell Fox News that “he and the parents were ‘always cooperating with law enforcement with respect to locating Brian.'”
Hours after it was revealed that Brian Laundrie’s parents visited the park where they believed he could have gone after disappearing from his home on September 13, the FBI confirmed they made a shocking discovery. Prior to this press conference, it was reported that law enforcement found personal items that belonged to Brian Laundrie.
His parents were reportedly called to the scene where Fox News captured them talking to the authorities. As the report stated, Christopher and Roberta Laundrie were seen at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park early Wednesday morning looking upset.
The FBI Makes Big Announcement in the Search for Brian Laundrie
After Fox News reported that the couple appeared emotional after Chris followed law enforcement into the brush, NBC News then confirmed through a statement made by the Laundrie’s lawyer that the items found did belong to Brian Laundrie. Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park is the place where Brian’s parents initially told police he frequented after he disappeared on September 13.
“Chris and Roberta Laundrie went to the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park this morning to search for Brian,” Steven Bertolino said in a statement. “The FBI and NPPD were informed last night of Brian’s parents’ intentions and they met Chris and Roberta there this morning. After a brief search off a trail that Brian frequented some articles belonging to Brian were found. As of now, law enforcement is conducting a more thorough investigation of that area.”
NBC News also reported that what appears to be partial human remains were also located near where the backpack and notebook were found. Now, the FBI has confirmed that personal items that belonged to Brian Laundrie were found, as were human remains. However, it has not yet been confirmed if those remains belong to Laundrie, despite the attorney’s most recent statement. The FBI said they don’t have all the answers yet and that the investigation in this specific spot may take several days.
Brian Laundrie is a wanted man for reportedly making unauthorized charges on Gabby Petito‘s credit card. He is also the only person of interest in her murder. It is believed that Laundrie was the last person to see his fiancée, Gabby Petito, alive. The couple was on a cross-country trip together documenting their travels.
Petito had purchased a white Ford van, which they modified together so that they could live out of it during their travels. However, at some point, the trip turned into a tragedy and on September 19, Gabby Petito was found strangled to death.
This discovery came 18 days after Brian Laundrie returned back to Florida on September 1 in the white van without Petito with him. Mamas Uncut will offer additional information as it becomes known.
