It’s that time of year again. But depending on how old your children are, you’re either happy about it or deeply sad about it, like actress Brooke Shields.

Alongside a video she posted on TikTok, Brooke Shields revealed she hasn’t been able to stop crying after waving goodbye to her daughter, yet again. Shields’ daughter is off to college to complete yet another semester.

“So I just waved my daughter goodbye again. I thought it would be easier a second time,” Shields admitted, saying that, as it “turns out the second time is NOT the charm when it comes to your baby going off to college.”

Shields admitted that her daughter has been away from her all summer. So she didn’t get a lot of time with her baby girl before she was off on her own again.

“I’m not making the drive with her, she’s driving with her dad. But she’s taking my car, it was my graduation present car. So she’s going to be driving that. And I said it was just too painful. I don’t think I could do the driving away from campus again.”

Shields continued by saying, “So if there is anyone else going through this, we are all in it together. […] Oh, it’s so hard! I miss her already.”

However, Shields eventually conceded that this is ultimately what you want as a parent. “You raise them to leave you.”

Several other parents took to the comments section of Shields’ video to let the actress know she’s not alone. Some even shared the parenting experience that left them in the most tears.

“Wait till she gets married. I damn near lost it because she’s definitely not coming back,” one commenter added.

“You will always have moments of being homesick for your kids. I think that means you are a good Mom. Hang in there…it does get easier,” another commenter offered.

“I sent my baby boy off to bootcamp. No contact for 13 weeks. Send help I’m not ok,” another mama wrote.

Even Santa Claus commented on Shields’ video, writing, “Motherhood, the most exhilarating, rewarding, and scary rollercoaster.” What parenting experience do you think of that left you very emotional?

Exactly one year ago, Shields posted her first video of her emotional response to dropping off her daughter at school for the first time. She was right, it didn’t get any easier for her.
