Busy Philipps’ Daughter Birdie Wrote E! a Scathing Letter When Her Mom’s Talk Show Was Cancelled

Busy Philipps was “blindsided” after her E! talk show, Busy Tonight, was canceled in April. On New Year’s Day, the actress shared some more details surrounding the cancellation, including pictures of her reaction and a photo of the tattoo she got after she found out it was going off the air.

She shared her memories from the day she found out about the cancelation.

“I was blindsided, especially since the last text I had from the head of E! (who’s now gone) was about marketing for busy tonight that he was excited to tell me about,” she wrote in the post. “Anyway. I did what anyone would do. I sat in the lobby of the hotel in Dallas and ordered three tequilas and called Marc, Caissie, Eric, Tina, Caissie again and I cried. I waited for a call or email from someone at E!, which never came so I sent a text to the head of the network that truly makes me lol to this day (slide 3).”

For the gallery of images she posted on Instagram, she also included detailed captions explaining each photo, including one of a letter her daughter Birdie wrote to the head of E!

“I found a letter my daughter wrote to E! and I feel like as this year is almost over, the decade is closing, it’s the right time to post the letter,” she wrote.

Birdie did not hold back her feelings in her letter, writing, “You are the worst TV network ever.” She also included reasons why she felt they were the “worst,” including “1. You got rid of my mom’s show. 2. You made a lot of people lose their jobs. 3. You suck.”

“Well anyways my mom does work much harder than you. So you don’t deserve her,” she continued. “She will find another place and do her show when it becomes popular.”

Though the memories of the cancellation may have been a bit painful, Busy seemed able to laugh about it now and is looking forward to a bright 2020.

“Next year; in 2020 we will finally be able to share it,” she wrote, referring to a new project she’s been working on. “So Happy New Year everyone!! Goodnight you guys! I love you SO much!!!”
