Some good news hot off the presses: Channing Tatum is writing a children’s book! Some even better news: He announced that he’s writing a children’s book by sharing what may be the greatest photo of all time.
So yeah… we’ll be buying a copy (or six) of The One and Only Sparkella.

Channing Tatum wrote a children’s book called The One and Only Sparkella. It is inspired by his daughter, 7-year-old Everly, and his relationship with her. He announced this project with a shirtless photo that… well, see for yourself.
“Guys, I don’t know about you,” Tatum’s caption of the photo begins, “but things got a little weird for me in quarantine.” Things may have gotten a little weird for Tatum, although clearly not weird enough to keep him from regular workouts. Just saying.
He continues, “I ended up accidentally locking myself in my 7 year old daughter’s room. And I ended up finding my inner child. So this is what I created for my little girl. From what is, I guess, the little girl in me. Thanks for reading.”
Awwwwwww!
Described as a “charming ode to self-esteem and the love between a father and daughter,” Tatum wrote The One and Only Sparkella while Kim Barnes created illustrations for the book. It is currently set to be released on May 4, 2021.
The book’s protagonist is Ella, who is “excited for her first day at a new school.” Ella is a big lover of all things glittery and sparkly — a theme that certainly carries over into Tatum’s announcement photo — but is sad to learn her classmates don’t share her fondness for “disco-ball shoes, her PB&J-with-sprinkles, or her rainbow-y unicorn painting.”
Of course, Ella tries to fit in with her new schoolmates by toning down her sparkle, but “with a little help from her dad, she soon learns the importance of just being herself, no matter what other people say.”
That sounds like the perfect message to us!
On the book’s website, Tatum’s bio lists his well-known accomplishments — an actor, a producer, a director, and more — but states that “his favorite role to date is being father to his … daughter, Everly, who loves sparkly, rainbow-y things.” Sounds a lot like the protagonist of his book, wink wink!
Tatum shares daughter Everly with his ex, Jenna Dewan. They welcomed her on May 31, 2013. They were married for 9 years until 2018 when they announced they were splitting up. Dewan filed for divorce six months after their initial announcement.
Though both have moved on — Dewan recently welcomed her second child, a son, with fiancé Steve Kazee, and Tatum has been linked to singer Jessie J — they actively co-parent their shared daughter and seem like they are on good terms.
And now, all of that good parenting is paying off with an amazing-looking children’s book… and the announcement photo. Let’s take another look at that, shall we? Go on, give it a “like.” It deserves.
