A 12-year-old girl who was playing outside when a snowplow buried her in a snowbank after a winter weather storm on, Thursday, is now fighting for her life.
The incident happened early Thursday morning. The child had been digging holes in the snow when a family member accidentally buried her in a snowbank while operating a snowplow outside the girl’s home in Knox, New York.
The girl was not discovered after she screamed or called for help and it is still unclear how long the child remained buried before she was found.
It wasn’t until the girl’s family realized she was missing and began searching outside.
They began to dig through the snowbank created by the plow when they finally found the 12-year-old who buried under many feet of icy snow.

The child was unresponsive and not breathing, but her family called 911 and began performing CPR. At around 8:30 a.m. paramedics and deputies arrived to help and was successfully revived.
Over 22 inches of snow fell in Albany County last week according to the National Weather Service, which is where the girl’s home is.
And while the exact amount of snow that she was buried in is unclear, it seems she was covered in quite a large amount.

Thankfully, the 12-year-old is in stable condition.
While specific details on her condition have not been made available, the County Executive Daniel McCoy said during a press conference on the storm last week that the girl was doing well.
Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple, one of the first responders on the scene Thursday, stated how the entire thing “a horrible, horrible accident.” Thankfully, the girl is alive and well.
